Wool cards

Wool cards are comprised of a thin, flat palatte of wood with a handle and wire bristles. However, these wool cards served a dual purpose. i) to remove any remaining burrs or debris from the sheep's wool after the washing process; ii) secondly, the cards were moved in a criss-cross motion (or carded), thus creating a fuzzy texture which is then rolled into a thin, lengthy curl for the next step - spinning of it into yarn.
