St. Anne's School

In accordance with the records, the first school (one classroom) in Holyrood (now St. Vincent's) was in existence in the 1860s. In 1941, it was demolished and replaced by the new more modern school. The new building was constructed of concrete blocks and engineered by skilled builders, in conjunction with the efforts of all the residents (men and women) of the community, who volunteered their time freely from dawn to dusk till its completion. Thus, St. Anne's School became the first all grade school to accommodate Grades I - IX, and later it accommodated up to Grade XI. By the early 1960s, as student enrollment increased, two new wings were added to the existing building.
