Frape

The Frape, a marker located on the beach, was used by the fishermen, the "punts man," in particular. A large rope approximately 60 fathoms in length was attached at the top of two wooden logs and extended out into the ocean to its designated spot. Both logs were also secured deeply in the sand to hold them in place. The experienced "punts man" held on to the rope to guide the crew to and from the location where the skiff was anchored at the "collar." Each fisherman's crew had its own frape. *The punt (a small boat with a flat stern and pointed stem, not motorized and smaller than the skiff.)
